Trimming is Essential
We have all heard that your hair grows faster when you get it trimmed regularly. Well, I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but this is a myth. However, what trimming will do is stop split ends from occurring. Split ends are a deal breaker when it comes to growing your hair out because they can actually split all the way up, giving the hair the appearance of being frizzy and unkempt. Trimming ensures that your hair will stay nice and healthy as it grows, reducing breakage by making it easier to comb through.
They say you should have your hair trimmed at least once every 6 to 8 weeks but not everyone can afford to go to a stylist this often. For this reason many women and men with longer hair use home tips to trim their own hair. If your hair is long enough you can simply hang your head upside down and carefully trim off the ends. The result may be small layers at the very ends but this is often a really nice touch. If you have shoulder length hair or shorter you might just ask someone dependable, note the word dependable, to trim your hair up for you. Just be sure not to give the shears to a cut happy person or you might end up with inches taken off rather than just a half an inch!
